Advanced Training in couple therapy
Paris 2024
4 modules of 3 days
In 2022 I was awarded doctor of psychotherapy by professional studies at Metanoia Institute, Middlesex University, London. I did a theory-building research project where I created a practice-near method consisting of two supplementing models – A Relational Process Method and A Gestalt Integrativ Model of Phenomena. Together they create a framework to support therapist working with a field that is recognized as the most demanding therapeutic situation. The research project was informed by 12 case studies and 6 therapists participated in the study.
Module 1: A Relational Process Method
Module 2: A Gestalt Integrative Model
This module builds on the first moduel and the Relational Process Method, and we are exploring the Gestalt Integrative Model of phenomena that implements attachment-, trauma- and Gestalt theory to support therapists in finding and grading interventions in clinical practice. The training is practice- near, and we will reflect on theory in light of experiemental work in smaller groups.
Module 3: Working with traumatised couples
In the last two decades relational (developmental) trauma has been increasingly acknowledged and implemented in trauma theory. My research project has been specifically createdd to what I found missing in couple therapy – a holistic and relational perspective to suffering with the research «working title” : The Need to Belong. Relational Trauma and the Healing Potential in a Relationship. The framework has been created to grade and design interventions working in the complexity of these vulnerable therapeutic situations. In this module I also introduce and implement Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy (DSP) by Ruella Frank, Centre for Somatic Studies. We will practice couple therapym do direct supervision and there will be time for reflection and sharing of theory and process.
Module 4: Intimacy and autonomy
Our work as therapists is to bring the clients to the id of the situation (Robine, 2016), which means a direct, spontanous engagement and contact “between”. We explore the resources of the therapist and how to support the clients to a new dynamic organisation in the contacting process of confluence (being together) and differentiation (withdrawal). We dive deeper into the potential in DSP, sexuality and presence. We also look at implementing the Gestalt Integrative Model to create a working hypothesis.
