Therapy
I have my private practice in Oslo and I welcome individuals as well as couples in therapy.
Gestalt therapy focuses on how we regulate in relationships, how we shape in relation, described as contact and creative adjustments. Clients most often come to therapy when they are stagnated in their lives and their adjustments no longer support their relational (and individual) needs. In therapy we explore how new ways of adjusting could be more creative towards healing and growth and increased vitality in life.
Gestalt therapy is a holistic psychotherapy that focuses on both body and mind, sensations and emotions. I also draw on psychological and philosophical persepctives that support the process when these are supplements I find useful, an integrative approach. These can be ie. trauma theory and regulation of the nervous system, attachment theories or social challenges that modern living poses on us: gender, sexuality, mixed partnerships, religions and values or challenges at work. I am transparent in what I have found useful during my 20 years of personal development, since I started to work on my own relational struggles, many of them embodied beyond what I intellectually was able to recognise.
In couple therapy I have created a Gestalt Integrative method for couple therapy initiated by my insights from personal experiences amongst them how I often found couple therapy unethical as the therapists allied with one partner. In couple therapy I am very attentive to this balance and support the partners in the couple to find their own voice and negotiate towards common understanding whether that implies continuing together or separating, in good form. To read more about the couple therapy method please look at the advanced training programs, research or at the Gestalt Integrative Institute website.
